BILLY KISSA

"In addition to having participated in the first edition of IRREVERENTE and wanting to return to experience its evolution, I love the theme of the festival."

After graduating from drama school, I found my place in the arts through improvisation.

As a teacher, I adapt my teaching to the needs of each group and individual. I firmly believe in providing the space and time each student needs to feel comfortable and safe, allowing them to find their own voice as actors. By combining different acting techniques, my classes provide a well-rounded approach to theatre and acting.

As an actor, I base my performances on honesty and vulnerability. Regardless of genre, I draw inspiration from my own life and from people’s stories. As someone driven by emotions, I approach each story and character with respect and empathy. I always question my perspective and ask questions about human nature. I don’t believe in a “universal truth,” but I do believe in the need for it and the journey we take to find it.

As a director, I treat improvised and scripted work in the same way: as theater. My background in scripted theater has been essential to the way I direct improvised shows. Aesthetics, commitment, risk and honesty are my main focuses and guides.

What a (Greek) Tragedy!
(Theater)

  • Beginner in Impro (already with some experience such as courses and/or performances)

  • Advanced and Professional in Impro (already with a few years of experience and/or career in Impro)

The ancient Greeks had an extraordinary and magical way of seeing and explaining the world. They lived in a world of magic, mythical creatures, gods and immortality. In this workshop, I will introduce participants to the main elements of Greek Tragedy and they will have the opportunity to create their own version of Greek Tragedy and Mythology.

Greek Tragedies continue to inspire us, teaching us about human frailty and nature. In this workshop, I will guide you through the dramatic techniques of Greek tragedy, bold storytelling, intense emotions, and the power of the chorus. We will explore fate, hubris, and catharsis, call upon the gods, and let fate decide where the story will take us! Let’s embrace the tragic and the epic.

SHOW DIRECTION

When humanity is on the brink of extinction, when survival is a luxury, when the instinct for survival controls every choice we make, loyalty is a word that loses its meaning.

In dystopian worlds, these are the stories of people who had to choose between staying alive and remaining loyal.

These are the stories of people who betrayed those they loved and those who chose to die rather than abandon their loyalty.

So what would you do?

TALK

"Almost Equals" (EN)

As an artist in Greece, it was always difficult to make a living. As a female in Greece it was always difficult to live. As a female artist in Greece it was always difficult to prove myself and be appreciated. And then I moved to Brussels. As a Greek in Belgium it is difficult to prove that I am not a lazy fraud. As a freelancer it is very difficult to make a living and keep my mental health in a good state. This exhibition is about the journey I am still in as a Greek, female, immigrant artist.
