TEST DRIVE WORKSHOPS

Mixes, experiments and combinations with Impro...

One afternoon, 4 workshops, completely free...

Registration Form

In this edition we look for mixtures, experiments and combinations with Impro, making IRREVERENTE FESTIVAL a great laboratory in which we take the risk of improvisation with greatest seriousness (and irreverence).

Research and experimentation in and for improvisation continue to be our focus and the main selection criteria for any IRREVERENTE activity.

Since these workshops are free of charge, registration is done by filling out this form and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registrations open until July 12th.

Marta Marquês

My name is Marta Marquês (b. 2002) and I am an artist working in the fields of music and theatre. I am currently the lead singer of a band and a soprano in several choirs.

I have experience in theatre, historical reenactment, and background acting in television and film productions.

I studied Acting in secondary school and I am currently pursuing a degree in Artistic Studies at the University of Lisbon

WORKSHOP
This workshop invites participants to explore vocal improvisation as a means of expression and connection between reality and imagination.
We will start with a vocal warm-up to awaken body and sound awareness, preparing the voice for creative freedom. From there, we will dive into guided improvisation exercises, using audio as stimuli – from natural soundscapes to instrument sounds.
Each participant will be challenged to explore new vocal textures, rhythms and emotions, freeing themselves from fixed structures. The goal is to develop active listening, musical intuition and confidence in the voice as an expressive instrument.
Open to everyone, regardless of musical experience, this will be a space for discovery, experimentation and collective creativity.

An Improvised Guided Meditation

ADRIÀ LERMA ÚBEDA

I've been training and performing as an actor/improvisers for around 5 years now. I'm part of 4 improv companies at the moment and I also work in a musical. I've been doing improv workshops for a year now, and since last September I'm a regular teacher of improv and acting at @vlcplayground. I have also produced and performed in more than a 100 improv shows. And, as an actor, I've done film, tv and theater. I manly teach improv and acting basics, but when I get more advanced students, I love to explore with them more physical work and grounded characters/emotions. I seek honesty and vulnerability on stage, beyond fun and commitment; of course.

Everyone will lie down comfortably on the floor and go through a quick relaxation activity. Then, we will do a guided meditation to unlock a new inner world of possibilities. I will lead everyone on a journey of exploration and imagination. After this collective experience, I will facilitate types of improvisations from this state, so that everyone can try to express themselves from a different state than our usual one.

Awakening the sound of the silence

BÁRBARA DE SÁ
SOFIA NUNES

Restless souls who recurrently navigate artistic multidisciplinarity as a palette of singular actions, first-hand learning, and expression.
They share training in jazz/classical voice and meet through movement and improvisation, ritualistic settings, horizons of listening, and regeneration.
Their paths have crossed on various stages — both conventional and more experimental.

WORKSHOP

A laboratory for listening and sound improvisation that, based on the premise of silence, awakens the body and voice. Through exercises of movement, breathing and vocal exploration, we build collective soundscapes rooted in individual expression. We create loops, incorporate words, and explore their deconstruction, on a journey through the sensitive, with an uncertain destination.

Improv is a "Potluck"
AREE WITOELAR

Aree Witoelar is a Norwegian improv teacher, director and producer from Indonesia. He is the artistic director of Oslo Impro Festival and founder of Impro Neuf International, Norway’s biggest improv community. Aree believes improv is easy and fun when you laugh with your partner through passion and curiosity. His improv style has been mentioned as smart, versatile and mischievous with big fun characters but also authentic to his cultural roots.

WORKSHOP

We are taught in improv to have a “group mind,” but that phrase often becomes the most common reference that everyone knows. I want improv to be a “potluck,” a festival or gathering where everyone brings their own food to share, and together we set up a buffet table. Let’s explore ways to make our art an additive union of ideas, rather than a subtractive intersection of ideas. It’s fun, it’s diverse, and we learn something new to take home.
