RUI NETO

"I want to participate in the festival in a constructive way, supporting the festival and contributing to its success, which is also the success of improvisational theater in my community, in my city. In the same way, I intend to take advantage of this excellent opportunity to develop my work as an actor and improviser, working to present good workshops, share my experience and explore new skills."

WORKSHOP

Can you keep a secret?

Play like a child
(Theater)
(PT/EN)

  • GENERAL PUBLIC (People without any artistic experience)

  • IMPRO BEGINNER (People with some experience with Impro courses and/or presentations.)

  • It's for EVERYONE (with or without experience)

In this workshop I propose to take participants back to childhood, using their imagination and bodies as if they were children again. Children have an infinite capacity for play - they can create entire worlds in one breath, they can create enemies or allies, castles or rivers, unique and enchanted stories. As adults our defenses prevent us from going to these places of imagination, and when we can play like a child, and when we have real fun on stage, it is something worth seeing - and feeling.
I propose a set of activities so that we can play again, but use this play to create fun and enchanting scenes, through the creation of imaginary worlds.

I have always used a lot of Clown references in what I do and this workshop aims to be an exploration of this language with the participants. I propose training the ability to go to a place of imagination and play, letting the story emerge through this play, rather than letting the telling of a story take over the events on stage.
I intend to use physical and body exercises in order to free the mind and reveal a little of each participant's clownish character, teaching how to take advantage of this character to take us to a place of play and imagination.

MIXED TEAM WORKSHOP

In this show I intend to explore what is the most basic inspiration for improvisation: the improviser. I intend to explore with the participants the way they can construct scenes taking advantage of their own individual experiences, their feelings on stage and of course their imagination, to build worlds or, in this case, scenes, which are presented to the audience as imaginary worlds, but which always have a basis in reality.
Each scene on stage will be based on a description of an imaginary place/world.

The theme of the show will be based on imaginary worlds created for the different scenes. During the preparation of the show, we will carry out different exercises to discover what kind of preferences the participants have regarding their imaginary worlds: fantasy, enchanted kingdoms, horror, sci-fi, etc. Based on this work, we will discover the ideas that they identify with the most and find most fun, so that they can make the most of them in the scenes.

Imaginary worlds... or real ones?

TALK

"The Clown in Improvisational Theater" (PT)

As part of my career, I have worked as an actor, improviser and clown.

For me, these aspects are just two sides of the same polygon and I have been finding increasing pleasure in exploring improvisation with clown elements. I would like to share how I have been following this path and how I have been taking advantage of it.
